R & R Auto Systems is a family-owned business with roots that stretch back some 80 years. It all started in 1945, when Angelo Trippiedi started his first gas station in Brooklyn, NY. This hard-working, self-taught auto mechanic was also an adventurous entrepreneur, and over the span of six decades bought and sold several businesses on Coney Island. In fact, to this day he still owns his muffler shop building in New York City.
Angelo’s son Michael started helping out at a young age. When he was 10 years old he began pumping gas for his father, and from that point on grew more and more interested in the inner workings of the automobile. He attended an all-boys trade school in Brooklyn that expanded his knowledge and sharpened his skills. This schooling was so effective that at a very young age he was already a master fabricator and exceptionally talented mechanic. Michael eventually decided to “spread his wings,” and moved out to Las Vegas, where he purchased his own property and started a business of his own.
This legacy of crackerjack workmanship and unwavering determination was carried over into the third generation of Trippiedis, when Michael’s 14-year-old son Christopher started changing oil and performing basic auto maintenance for his father over the summer. Later, Christopher apprenticed under his father Michael, and at the same time completed the Automotive Technology program at the College of Southern Nevada (CSN).
After graduating near the top of his class, Christopher took his education one step further by obtaining multiple ASE certifications. Wanting to share his knowledge with others, Christopher then served as a part-time automotive instructor at CSN while working alongside his father at R & R. Nowadays, Christopher has taken over the day-to-day operations of the shop, and is still carrying on the family’s legacy of hard work, ambition, and honesty.
In March 2022, Christopher received his 2g license, allowing R &R Auto Systems to perform safety and emission inspections (smog checks).
The R & R Team
R & R Auto Systems officially opened for business in the summer of 1997. Since then, the company has attracted a group of exceptionally talented and diligent professionals. Our current lineup includes:
- Christopher, the operations manager and part owner
- Frank, our service writer for 8 years now, who is highly detail-oriented and takes great care in writing out his estimates
- Danny, our lube tech for the past 10+ years, whose efficiency and knowledge of the oil change industry is unmatched
- Sandro, one of our mechanics, who has delivered prompt, high quality work to our customers for 14 years
- Ignacio, our longest-standing employee with 18 years under his belt, who has a sterling reputation for his courtesy and professionalism
- Doug, our newest hire — but with multiple ASE certifications and over 30 years of experience in the industry, he’s by no means a novice!
At R & R, we believe that nothing can truly replicate that sense of family, reliability, and security that old-school “mom and pop” shops provide for their customers. Car issues are always stressful to some extent; but when you bring your car in to the shop, and know everyone who works there by name, it’s so much easier to have peace of mind. We want to keep that tradition of the small-time auto body shop alive, even in the big city of Las Vegas.
